Tommy started moving around the bedroom around 6:20. Since
she wasn’t up on the bed or trying to wake me up, I fell back to sleep, only to
have her awaken me about 10 minutes later.
She jumped up and came right up to my head. After a couple pets, she jumped down again to
get a drink of water.
She was back up again a few minutes later and this time after
I petted her and we talked, she moved to her usual spot on the bed and curled
up. It was nice to see her back in her
spot after a two week absence.
Just before the heat came on, I got up petted her and moved
toward the door. I expected her to jump up and beg for the door to be opened,
but she just sat by the door and waited. It seemed like someone was learning
patience. We went out into the kitchen
and I got out her breakfast.
While she ate I started on the morning posts. A while later I
heard her call out so I went to investigate. We met near the dining table and
we went back into the study. Tommy sat where she could see me and would
occasionally come over for some attention. When she’d had enough, she went to
the main room while I quickly finished typing.
We spent some time just hanging out, not really playing, but
just “looking at me” while I tempted Tommy with various toys. When I went to
eat breakfast Tommy moved to the bedroom to chill. I saw that she was curled up on the bed. That
was a good sign since before this morning she hadn’t been on the bed while I
was home for a week or two.
We spent a quiet afternoon. I did some paperwork while Tommy
napped. When it was time for dinner, Tommy
was ready, so we ate although Tommy seemed to leave more for later than
usual. I then got ready and left for a
movie with friends.
When I returned I could see that Tommy hadn’t eaten while I
was gone. Since it had been out for quite
a while I needed to dump it out. We had a nice place session before going to
bed. Now when I turn off all the lights, Tommy enters the bedroom without
needing to be coaxed. I got ready for
bed, closed the door and I fell asleep knowing that Tommy would sleep on the
bed when she was tired.
