Tommy spent part of the night on
the bed and part of the night exploring. At one point during the night, she
came up by my head to “talk.” She then curled up for a moment or two. It was
another indication that she’s feeling safer with and closer to me. I didn’t
mind being awakened at 3:00 for something like that.
When we finally got up Tommy ran
into the living room, but stopped short. I’m not sure if she was expecting my
sisters to still be there. Since I had a
9:00 class, I needed to get moving and Tommy seemed to be okay with my leaving.
This was of course after we had a play period and I made sure that all her
necessities were replenished, cleaned, etc.
When I returned there was a very
quiet kitty waiting for me at the bedroom door.
We had our usual petting and treat period and then we played for a
little while. I went into the study to
put everything back in order and Tommy came along to watch. When I deflated the
queen sleeper, Tommy darted out. I’m sure that the noise was too much for her.
When sheets and towels were thrown
out into the hall, Tommy investigated. Laundry was started and we went back
into the study. Tommy let out what could only be described as a cry. She seemed
upset and the only possible reason I can think of was that her aunties weren’t
still around to give her the added attention that she’d liked so much over the
weekend.
While I worked in the study, Tommy
would occasionally visit or leave and nap in her bed in the living room by the
window. It never fails that when I’m nearly done with a project, Tommy will
come in and let me know that I’m taking too long.
We spend a quiet evening, but I notice
something that’s a little upsetting. Tommy hasn’t been eating as much as she
usually does. We changed the food she was eating, changing both the
manufacturer and flavor. We needed to transition her to adult food and I
thought that she liked turkey flavor, but couldn’t find it by the previous
maker. The new blend has turkey, chicken and duck flavors. I thought that she
was eating it, but maybe she was eating around it.
I’m going to keep a close eye on
her heating habits for the next few days and if it doesn’t improve, she’ll be
heading to the doctor to make sure that it’s not due to illness. She seems fine
and her behavior hasn’t changed. Maybe
it was just the recent changes with company that have her being a little picky.
We do have an issue going to bed
for the first time in a while. When Tommy senses that we’re headed to bed, she
actually runs away from me when I get close to her. After a couple missteps, I calmly sit down
and call her and she comes to me. We
head into the bedroom, but she’ll only accept her late night snack on the floor;
she won’t jump on the bed for it. As I turn out the lights, I hope that I’ll
find her on the bed later.
