I woke up around 4:00 and saw that Tommy was curled up in her usual spot on the bed. Whatever had been bothering her must have been resolved. She started the morning alarms around 5:15 and we continued “the dance” until 6:45 when the heat pump kicked on.
Once my morning Tommy chores were completed, I got ready for school. I left a little later
Tommy's new favorite spot to nap
because I wanted to catch the bus rather than try walking in the cold.  When I returned Tommy was enjoying the sun from the sofa but beckoned me over to give her some attention. I guess that since I was already up I was expected to move.
Since it was a class day, I needed to finish my notes and it always takes a while to find all the images from class. Whenever Tommy needed attention, she would come in and jump up on the desk. It’s always a welcome break when she wants some attention.
When I came out to have lunch I brought out the wheat grass for her.  The rest of the day she planted herself on top of the box of decorations that contains the ceramic tree that was made for me by one of my aunts.  I wonder when I’ll be able to unpack that box.
Around 4:00 Tommy came in again and I remembered that I needed to get out her dinner from the refrigerator. I don’t know how she does it, but she always seemed to want attention at the time when I need to perform that task.
At 5:30 she was ready to eat and the chill was out of her food.  Right after she finished, she was curled up on the Christmas decoration box again.  Maybe if I start singing in the living room she’ll seek the shelter of a different room and I’ll get into that box.
After dinner, I watched television and read my book. Tommy stayed on the box, but finally moved over to the sofa. She curled up on the fleece throw as I sat next to her. We both seemed content.
I needed to do the dishes and finally got them done. Once that was finished, Tommy was wake enough to want to play. We played with the laser pointer for a while until Tommy decided that she had played enough. By then it was time for bed, so I got ready and Tommy needed to decide where she’d start the night. I said good night and gave her a good petting and a hug and went to bed.
As I lay in bed I heard Tommy playing in the living room. This may be a night when she will wear herself out and then fall asleep in the living room. We’ll see what happens.
