Again last night Tommy decided to sleep in the living room.
She did come in and jump on the bed when she was ready for breakfast.
Unfortunately for her, it was only 5:15 A.M. and breakfast wouldn’t be served
until 6:45. She spent that time either
in the living room or trying to coax me into an earlier feeding time. She
should know by now that 6:45 is already a compromise and she should be happy
with it.
Once her breakfast was served and morning chores were done, I
got ready to leave for class. I was
again riding the bus, so I would only be gone for about two hours. I love the
new bus app. It lets me know when my bus will be at the stop so I don’t have to
stand and wait at the curb and I also can catch the first bus home because I
know when each bus route (Downer or Maryland) will be at the closest stop.
Having the new M card also makes paying for fares fast and economical. [This
ends my commercial for MCTS!]
When I returned from class, Tommy got up from the sofa and
met me halfway between the door and the sofa. I could tell that she wanted
attention so I made sure that she got adequate petting and play time. She still loves that fleece teaser and also
enjoys playing with the sunlight refracting from my glasses.
When she went for her nap in the bedroom, I worked on class
notes. Just as I finished tommy came in
and jumped on the desk. It was time to give her attention and then her wheat
grass. She also had to watch the printer as it printed off the pages of notes
from class.
We had lunch; she had her salad of grass and I had a
sandwich. We then settled in for an afternoon of reading, catching up on
watching programs on the DVR and napping. I sit on the sofa with my feet on the
table and Tommy curls up in the fleece throw next to me. It’s become our
chillin’ spot and I really enjoy it.
When it was time for dinner, Tommy was ready. If she sees
David Muir on the television, she knows that she gets fed. Once dinner was
done, Tommy again curled up on the sofa.
She never finishes dinner right away. She usually saves some and takes a
nap in between eating. This does sometimes
make it difficult to do the dishes, but I can usually get most of them done and
just leave the water in the pan to do her last dish later.
When I know that she won’t stir from her sleep, I move to the
study and transcribe another month from Grandpa Potter’s diaries. I was able to
finish that in time to watch the UW basketball game on ESPN. I tried to remain
quiet, but I did wake Tommy up, but she took it well and went over and finished
eating. It was well timed because I was
able to wash her dish during halftime.
Once the game was over we had our final play session for the
day. The fleece and feather teasers were getting a workout, but we also played
with the laser pointer. Tommy usually signals an end to the fun by going under
the dining table and not engaging any toy that I try to use to entice her to
continue. I turned off the television
and all lights and checked the locks.
Once I got ready and was ready to go to bed, Tommy came in to the
bedroom and jumped up on her bungalow. She’s been enjoying the Noel fabric ball
that was hanging on the bungalow. She gives it a swat and then watches it twirl
around.
I went over and petted her and aid good night. Once I got
into bed, I put her treat in its usual spot. When Tommy saw this, she jumped
down and went out to play in the living room.
I had forgotten to put out her treat last night, so I wonder if she was
just checking to make sure that I didn’t forget again. I went to sleep
wondering if Tommy would sleep in the living room or on the bed. I guess that
I’ll find out tomorrow.
