Monday, December 29, 2014: She Naps, I Work, We Play
Tommy again didn’t wake me until almost 6:15 this
morning. We (I) completed the morning
chores and then Tommy let me know that we should continue to spend time in the
study. Rather than play with the tissue paper and teaser like yesterday, today
we were going to play with the shadows on the desk.
After we played with the shadows Tommy went to lay in the sun
while I worked reorganizing the study closet and getting rid of boxes. Tommy
came in occasionally to check the progress and explore the areas of the closet
that had been previously blocked by boxes and bags. I broke down some of the
larger boxes and put them near the condo entry door. Tommy went and sat on her tissue paper pile,
looked up at me and “cried.” I guess it was time for a break.
We played with the
tissue paper and fleece teaser for quite a while and then it was time for Tommy
to enjoy the sun while I finished the closet.
Once the closet was done and the vacuuming finished, I went to make the
bed and find Tommy. Making the bed must have been her cue that the vacuuming
was done because she went to the study to check out the changes.
I had put her grass down by the window to get some sun and
Tommy took advantage of the situation.
She also spent time sunning herself in the study and joined my on the
desk when I returned to finish tomorrow’s diary entries. During one of Tommy’s
moments on the desk, she flopped down right in front of me as if to say that it
was time for her to receive some petting. I, of course, obliged.
The rest of the day was spent with Tommy either napping on
the bed, sitting on the desk as I worked, or playing on her pile of tissue
paper with me using either the fleece teaser or the laser pointer. We tried
several other toys, but they just didn’t work as well. Whenever either one of
us tired of playing, we’d move to one of the other activities.
After the 10 P.M. news, I closed up the condo and moved to
the bedroom. Tommy snoozed on her rug while I watched the news and read for a
while. She did look up a couple times to
check out what I was doing, and I’m sure to see if I’d put out her snack yet.
Once the snack was out she jumped up and ate it only to return to the rug. Once
the lights and television were off she waited to make sure that I was really
going to sleep before joining me up on the bed to sleep.
