Saturday, January 10, 2015: A Quiet Day and Night

I woke up a couple times during the night and saw that Tommy wasn’t sleeping on the bed. I wasn’t sure if this was her response to my being gone for several hours yesterday or her renewed timidity based on her previous issues of the past two days. It would be interesting to see how the day would unfold.
Tommy came in to wake me a few times before the heat pump started. Each time she got some attention, curled up next to me for a while, and then jump down and return to the living room until the next session.  When the heat pump came on, Tommy made sure that I got up right away.
After Tommy was served breakfast and I had finished the morning chores, I went to the study to handle postings and printing. Tommy came to join me. We spent some time petting and purring, you can figure out who did what.
When we moved to the living room and we played with her new toy. We then moved to the sofa, but after she spent some time, she moved to the ottoman to get a better view of the outside activities. When she curled up I got the heating pad and she moved to the sofa to nap in a warmer spot.
She sat patiently while I talked to my mother on the phone.  Other than the occasional plane, garbage collection, or other noise, we spent a quiet morning.  I then got ready to leave for an afternoon party.  Tommy moved to the bed and stayed there while I got ready and left.
When I returned Tommy was on the sofa. We spent a relatively quiet late afternoon and evening.  Tommy spent time on the sofa next to me or above me, on the bed, or just about everywhere else that she normally sits in the condo.  We had some play time including two sessions with chasing the light from my glasses.  Tommy also has become intrigued by the light that is cast on the floor when the refrigerator is open. I’ve learned to close the door very slowly because Tommy likes to follow the light and could very well get her head knocked by the door as it closes. It hasn’t happened, but she comes very close to keeping her head in harm’s way and I need to “help” her move out of the way of the door.
When Tommy was in the bedroom, I decided to join her and watch television in there. Tommy didn’t want to share the bed, so she went to the living room only to return when her treat was put out hours later. She then finished her snack as I got into bed. She curled up on the corner for a while but as I was falling asleep, I heard her jump down and go back to the living room. I appeared that she was still going to be sleeping on the sofa for whatever reason she had.
