I woke up around 4:00 and
found Tommy sleeping near my feet. Perhaps being gone all day has reminded her
about how good I am to her, or maybe she just wanted to find a warm spot on
something made of fleece to sleep.
She didn’t wake me until
around 6:30 and even though I had gone to bed around midnight, I got up and fed
her. She hadn’t had any wet food since noon yesterday and she only ate a little
of her dry food, so I’m sure that she was hungry.
She ate and then came
searching for her grass. After a few
bites, she again tipped it over, but this time starting eating the new shoots
that she couldn’t reach from the top.
She finished off her salad with a catnip leaf and then chilled on her
rug in the living room.
I went to the study to work,
and when I returned a little later, Tommy wasn’t on her rug. I found her on the
bed. Because we had started the day quite early I hadn’t gotten enough sleep,
so I joined Tommy on the bed and we both took a well-deserved nap.
When I woke up it was time to
get ready to leave for a lunch date with friends. Tommy watched me get ready. When I got out
the bag of treats Tommy came over. She does love a treat and knows that there’s
always going to be one for her when I leave.
When I returned Tommy came
running from across the living room. She
followed me as I moved around the condo and rubbed against me. She was doing a
good job of making up for her recent bad moods. We spent the rest of the afternoon
playing and napping.
In the evening after dinner we
laid on the bed and watched some T.V. I did the dishes while Tommy sat nearby
in the kitchen supervising. When it was
time to go to bed, I could tell that Tommy wasn’t ready. I got out the laser
pointer and we had one more play session before bed. When it was over I went to
bed and Tommy stayed in the living room watching the night happenings from the
window. I knew that sooner or later she’d join me up on the bed.
