Monday November 3, 2014: Tommy Shows More Trust

We again woke up early, but that was okay. I had much to do before going to class. Tommy let me know what my priority should be and of course, I got out her breakfast before doing anything else.
As she ate I was able to take care of posts and prepare for class. After Tommy finished off her breakfast, she reminded me that her grass was the next course.  She ate while I showered and dressed. When I was finished I saw that tommy had again knocked the grass out of the container, so it was put away for another day.
Tommy moved to her living room bed by the window as I put on my shoes.  Once everything was done, I said good bye and went to class.
When I returned Tommy came and greeted me.  It’s always great to come home to her since she always lets me know how happy she is when I return.  After petting her, we spent some time playing with the fleece teaser.
Once when Tommy was under of the glass table, the teaser fell on top of it. She still doesn’t understand glass. She tried to reach the teaser through the glass and couldn’t understand how she could see the teaser and her paw could be so close, but she couldn’t touch it.
After playing, Tommy decided that it was time for another nap and curled up in her bed by the window. I went to the study to work on the computer. When Tommy woke she came and found me. It was time to give her the attention that she deserved.
While I was petting her while she sat on her living room rug, she noticed that there was still a few blades of grass from the morning. She bent down to eat them and got most of the in her mouth. There was one blade that didn’t want to cooperate no matter what she did. I grabbed the blade, put it near her mouth, and she surprisingly ate it. She had never eaten anything right from my hand.
She then moved to her food dish and ate some of her dry food. After each bite, she would raise her head and look at me as if to say, “Look I’m eating this stuff that you keep wanting me to eat. Are you happy now?” I was very happy to see her eating the dry food since she hadn’t been eating much for the last couple days.
After eating, it was time to chill in her bed. I thought she might want to nap, but she positioned herself so that she could rest while keeping watch out the window. I continued working and she continued napping throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Tommy spent some post-dinner time napping on her bungalow. When she came out after her nap, she sat by the teasers as if to say, “I’m ready to play!” I tried using various teasers, but none of them kept her attention, so I moved to a sure-fire toy, the laser pointer.
Tommy chased all over the living room after the little red point of light, and still occasionally would roll over and want to play with the point of light above her head. I hope that soon she’ll stop thinking that the light can float in the air.
After we played for quite a while, Tommy plopped exhausted on her rug in the living room. As I worked on my laptop she just stayed there in a deep sleep.  When she woke up I knew that I could go to bed without waking her.  She looked up and I went and said good night. I know that when I’m needed, she’ll come into the bedroom and let me know.
