Just as I suspected, Tommy
stayed in the living room all night. Her first appearance was around 5:00 to
let me know that she was hungry. She didn’t come up on the bed and left the
room right after calling out. She didn’t appear again until around 6:00 when
she jumped up on the bed. I remained “asleep” and she left to let me go back to
sleep.
The third time she jumped up
on the bed and walked over me. Again, I wasn’t time for breakfast so I remained
asleep. When the furnace kicked in, Tommy was back to let me know that it was
time for breakfast. We had a short conversation before I got out of bed.
I got her breakfast out and
put fresh water in fresh bowls. I then made coffee and went back to bed to
read. Since my plans had changed, we would be staying home and working around
the house. As I was reading in bed I heard a noise in the living room. Tommy
had knocked over the vase that held her toys. I knew that she was trying to get
my attention, but this behavior wasn’t going to make me a happy slave.
I went out and righted the
vase, but left the toys laying where they were. As she watched from under the
dining table I also made sure her yellow ball was out. Having completed my tasks, I took my coffee
and went back to the bedroom to read and work on the laptop.
It wasn’t long before Tommy
showed up. She came up near the bed and cried out for attention. I invited her
to jump up on the bed and we talked.
While we talked I noticed that her nose was now her usual shade of pink.
Maybe she hadn’t been feeling well yesterday and that was why she wanted to be
alone.
As I started to pet her, she
started to purr. She licked my hand as I continued petting her. After our
reconciliation session, Tommy jumped down and I went back to work on my posts.
I realized that I hadn’t given her a treat, so I put some out and called to
Tommy.
It took her a moment to
realize what was happening but then came up and enjoyed her treat. We again had
some petting and purring time until Tommy decided to leave the bed. Since I was
in the middle of writing this blog, I continued.
After a few minutes Tommy came
back up and let me know that I was spending too much time on the blog. She
jumped down and left the room. I’m sure that she expected me to follow, which
of course I did.
We spent some time together,
but Tommy didn’t seem to want to play, but just wanted to sit and watch the
goings on outside. After a while she left to take a nap. I spent the afternoon watching the Packer
game and making some cookies. At halftime I checked on Tommy and got her to
come out into the living room and have some wheat grass since she hadn’t had
any in the morning. After she finished eating she decided to take a nap.
When she came back later she
didn’t seem to be in a very good mood so I thought that this might be a good
time to brush her teeth. I tried a few different ways to get brush her teeth
trying to get into a position where I could actually see her teeth. She was
much more fidgety than she’d been before. I finally had to put her on the table
and work form there. Although she continued to fidget, it wasn’t as bad.
Once we finished the task, I
had some treats for her, but it took a while for her to eat them. It was almost
as if she didn’t want to accept something I’d given her. When she went to the
toys, I pulled out the worm which she was pawing. Once I tried to play with it
with her she lost interest and just sat there. She was nearby for a while, but
then went back to the bedroom to nap.
At dinner time, I went to the
bedroom to find her lying on the bed, but awake. When I petted her she licked
my other hand, so I knew that we were okay. I let her know that dinner was
ready and went out to break up the big pieces. When she heard me prepping her
meal, she came running. She ate most of it, saving a little for later and then
went back to the bedroom which was her usual routine.
.When I went in to put down
the blinds she didn’t run to hide, but just sat there. Again I petted her t
make sure that everything was okay. I then went back to practice for choir
since we only had two more rehearsals before the first concert. Tommy “listened”
from the living room, but then left the concert to take one more nap.
Later she came out and we played
for quite a while using all sorts of toys. I had taken some of the teaser
attachments and put them at the end of long pieces of yarn. Tommy seemed to
enjoy chasing after some of them. We finished the evening playing with the ball
of yarn,
When I got ready for bed and
closed down the condo, Tommy stayed under the dining table. I looks like she’d
be sleeping in the living room again and I’d be in the bedroom. We would see what she decided later.
