Friday October 31, 2014

Tommy woke me up many times during the night. It seemed like it was about every half hour starting at 3:30. I’m not sure if she was cold, hungry, in need of attention, or wondering why I was sleeping on top of the bed in sweats. (I was so tired I just flopped on top of the bed and knew that if I’d gone under the covers I’d be too hot.)
I finally gave up at 6:30 and got Tommy’s breakfast ready for her.  While she ate, I caught up on blogs and paperwork. At one point I came out to check on her and found her sitting by the bathroom door near the study. I guess that she wanted to be close by when I left the study, but didn’t want to actually come in and watch.
I spent some time petting Tommy and giving her the attention that she was seeking.  When she let me know that she was ready to nap, I went back and work. Once I had the blogs done I went back out in to the living room and saw her curled up on her rug. I quietly retreated back into the study so she could sleep since I was sure that she had been up most of the night.
It was such a windy day, and when Tommy woke up she was intrigued by everything that went flying by the balcony. As she sat in her bed, I knew that it was time to add the rolled up towel to the balcony door track to provide a little more insulation. Tommy watched as I rolled and rerolled the towel.  After I pushed it into the track, Tommy saw something on the balcony and rolled the towel back out so either she could get a better view or provide an opening for whatever minute item was out there. When she moved back to the door, I put the towel back in place. I wondered how often we would be rolling and unrolling the towel.
Tommy spent much of the late morning and early afternoon looking out the balcony door and window. She was always on the lookout for anything that might blow onto the balcony and would try to chase it even if there was a thick wall of glass between them. When she finally tired of that she went to her bungalow in the bedroom for her afternoon nap.
She came back rather crabby, so I went into the study to work on the blogs. Tommy jumped up on the desk and curled up in the crook of my arm which also caused her butt to rest on the keyboard. Below is her contribution to the blog.

After her exhausting work, she jumped down and let me continue with my work. She went to her bungalow for her late afternoon nap only to return when she was hungry. Fortunately I had already gotten her dinner out of the refrigerator and it had lost its chill. After eating dinner, Tommy went back to the bungalow for her early evening nap. I guess all that looking out of the windows today had been exhausting.
I was going out to meet some friends, so I said good bye to Tommy. When I returned, she had moved to her bed in the living room, so she could see when I came home (which was about an hour to minutes after I left). She came running up to greet me and then headed right back to bed.  I guess all the keeping watch, blogging, and waiting up had been very tiring. I went to bed and wondered when Tommy would regain her energy. With my luck she’d be up most of the night either playing in the living room or waking me up.
