Wake up calls began at 3:00 A.M. and continued at 4:30 and 5:30. Once, as Tommy jumped on the bed, she collided with my arm, which I hadn’t moved.  She let me know that it was my fault and that I had better make more room available for a landing in the future.  At 6:00, she decided that once an hour wasn’t enough and began jumping on the bed every 5-10 minutes. Unfortunately for her, I held my ground and didn’t get up until 7:00.
Tommy’s disposition in the morning was a little on the testy side. While I was talking to my sister on the phone, Tommy left for the bedroom. When I went to check on her later, I found her curled up on the Brewers fleece which was nicely folded on the floor near the window. Although she was reclining, she was still able to keep her eyes on the activity outside.
I went to pet her and she seemed to be in a better mood. That was until my shoulder bumped against the glass table and made a loud noise.  Tommy was startled and even my attempts at trying to calm her didn’t help. She left the bedroom and went to curl up in her bed in the living room.
Later when she decided to walk around I checked her mood and found that she was still a little miffed. This, I thought, would be a good time for brushing her teeth.  She let me pick her up and didn’t fuss too much until we got to her front teeth. Then she was ready for the ordeal to end.  I quickly finished, put her down on the floor and gave her praise and treats. She seemed to be okay and even let me pet her.  I guess that teeth brushing was getting better.
The rest of the afternoon Tommy spent napping while I worked on some paperwork. When it was time for dinner, Tommy came in and jumped up on the desk.  She received all the attention that she deserved. It’s one of my favorite moments and I always look forward to her interruptions.
When she jumped down from the desk, I got out her dinner so it could warm to room temperature.  After some time, Tommy let me know that she was ready for dinner. It still seemed a little cold, but I put it down. She ate a little and then left it.  I took the dish and spent some time using my body heat to warm up the bowl.  When I put it down again, Tommy finished her meal.
The evening was spent quietly. At times Tommy came over for some attention or play.  We used a couple of the teasers and the laser pointer. When she grew tired of the playing, we called it a night and I headed to the bedroom.
